The Bigger Picture – Being Part of the Community
This week, I had the privilege of stepping away from the desk and rolling up my sleeves to do something hands-on for the community — thanks to an invitation from our national sponsor, BP, to take part in Cooking for a Cause with the incredible team at OzHarvest.
Alongside other volunteers, we donned yellow aprons, took over the kitchen, and helped prepare more than 100 meals for Australians in need. It was humbling, rewarding - and a whole lot of fun. You don’t need to be a chef; just willing hands and an open heart are enough to make a real difference.
This initiative is one part of BP’s broader commitment to social responsibility, and we’re proud to stand beside them in supporting causes that nourish and uplift communities.
Importantly, BP is also a strong supporter of Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds, an industry-led mental health initiative. This vital program is backed by several of our national sponsors - including NTI, PACCAR, and BP - who are all working together to promote wellbeing across our transport and logistics networks.
It’s a shared commitment that goes far beyond business - it’s about looking after the people who keep Australia moving.
We’re more than freight
As operators, we know this job is about more than just freight. We support local footy clubs, campdrafts, and school fairs. We show up for barbecues, lend a hand when disaster strikes, and mentor the next generation coming through. For many of us, this isn’t just a job - it’s a way of life that’s deeply tied to the communities we serve.
And when a cause touches one of our own, how often do we see everyone rally around? That solidarity, that unspoken support, it’s what binds us together as an industry.
So this week, let’s take a moment to recognise the power of partnership. Our national sponsors support us in countless ways (not just commercially, but in spirit), and they’re often there backing the same grassroots causes we believe in. Sometimes, it’s not about the lowest price or the biggest deal. It’s about the bigger picture: who’s in it with you, and what they stand for.
Whether it’s donating food, cooking a barbecue, helping a local kid get to the next game, or sending hay across state lines — like we saw last week with the WA to SA hay run - our industry continually shows up. These acts, big and small, reach far beyond the gate.
A heartfelt thank you to BP, OzHarvest, and all our sponsors, especially those championing mental health through Healthy Heads, for sharing this journey with us.
Until next week, stay safe.
Anthony
Together, we are stronger.
